Cost of mandatory volunteer courses

The request was partially successful.

Dear Lincolnshire County Council,

Please kindly supply a list of mandatory volunteer courses and the cost of each course to your council. If you need us to specify which volunteers we're mostly interested in the ones who provide basic computer training for adults. Although we are particularly interested in volunteers who run basic computer training courses, we would prefer a complete list of all mandatory courses for all volunteers and the cost of each course if possible. If not possible then please kindly provide a list of mandatory courses specifically for volunteers who provide basic computer training for adults and the cost of each course.

Yours faithfully,

Lee Jefferson

Request:

Please kindly supply a list of mandatory volunteer courses and the cost of
each course to your council.  If you need us to specify which volunteers
we're mostly interested in the ones who provide basic computer training
for adults.  Although we are particularly interested in volunteers who run

mandatory courses for all volunteers and the cost of each course if
possible.  If not possible then please kindly provide a list of mandatory
courses specifically for volunteers who provide basic computer training
for adults and the cost of each course.

Response:

Lincolnshire County Council do not offer training to volunteers with
regard to Adult Care.  It is suggested that organisations who work with
the Council e.g. Age UK and LinCA may offer training to their volunteers
but it would be necessary to contact them directly.

Regarding LCC Library Services our IT Buddy volunteers come to us already
IT literate (as we state when advertising that IT skills essential) rather
than us formally training them up. Therefore, training tends to be more
informal and managers going through online resources, ebooks, Learn My Way
resources to get them up to speed on all resources the library provides
online and at the same time checking that they are as computer savvy
(social media / booking flights etc) as they say to ensure they can
deliver the type of support required. They will of course also cover H&S /
safeguarding / IG matters as part of the volunteers induction.

Areas covered as part of induction include…

o Library Service overview, different sites and services, who Greenwich
Leisure Ltd are.
o Site tour including staff introductions, comfort facilities / H&S
briefing / evacuation procedures
o Codes of practise – volunteer agreement / Equal Opps / Racial and
sexual harassment / Use of IT / data protection
o Customer Services – customer charter / Disability awareness / Skills
for Life awareness / Safeguarding / customer care best practise
o Role overview / tasks description
