Dear Department for Transport,
I refer to the above case recently heard in the Magistrates Court. It was a complaint for a Litter Abatement Order under S 91 of the Environmental Protection Act and was in respect to litter at Junction 1 of the M40.
The Secretary of State, Philip Hammond, drafted in a Solicitor from the Treasury Solicitor's Department who in turn employed a barrister.
Can you please provide me with an itemised list of the legal costs incurred by your department including the costs of the aforementioned solicitor and barrister in defending this case.
I am writing to acknowledge receipt of your request for information which has been allocated the reference number P0007763. A response will be issued to you in due course.
