Cost of Gender Pay Gap Register on GOV.UK
Dear Government Equalities Office,
I would like to know how much it cost to create the Gender Pay Gap Register that we see here:
https://gender-pay-gap.service.gov.uk/
with a break down of:
1) System implementation cost
2) Cost of sourcing the data initially
3) Cost of sourcing the data on an ongoing basis.
4) Cost to administer/maintain the register on an ongoing basis
Did the funding for the register come from public (taxpayer) funds or were private funding and/or funding in kind involved?
Was partnership with existing civil society solutions considered before public funds were spent?
Finally, was the building of the register sourced externally or built in-house?
Thank you for your assistance.
Yours faithfully,
Best wishes,
Jaya Chakrabarti

Dear Government Equalities Office,
Thank you for confirming so quickly. If it helps any, we've found a tender for ongoing maintenance of the service here:
https://www.digitalmarketplace.service.g...
This covers the annual maintenance cost for the register and reports in part (capped at £1.6M inc VAT per annum?), but not the rest (including the data).
We have not been able to locate the contract for the build or the data from open public spend data hence the question. Thanks so much for your help!
Yours faithfully,
Jaya Chakrabarti MBE

hi Christine,
Thanks very much for your update and continued consideration. I've just looked up section 43 and had a question:
"43 Commercial interests.
(1)Information is exempt information if it constitutes a trade secret.
(2)Information is exempt information if its disclosure under this Act would, or would be likely to, prejudice the commercial interests of any person (including the public authority holding it).
(3)The duty to confirm or deny does not arise if, or to the extent that, compliance with section 1(1)(a) would, or would be likely to, prejudice the interests mentioned in subsection (2)."
Could you tell me which of those options, i.e. (1), (2), or (3) above apply in this case please so I can better understand the nature of the issue? It would also be incredibly helpful if you could point to the original tender for the commissioning of the GPG Register (not the maintenance, which I've linked to above), which should hopefully already be in the public domain somewhere.
Thanks again,
Jaya
