Cost for a day pupil attending independent specialist school per term

The request was successful.

Dear Dumfries and Galloway Council,

How much does it cost to send a pupil for day placement 5days a week per term who has autism to an independent school in the same area also do you get a pupil premium for those who have a disability ?

Yours faithfully,

Member of the public

Good morning

Thank you for your email, unfortunately, we cannot currently process it as the request is invalid under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

We note that whilst an address for correspondence has been provided (email address) there is no full applicant name at the end of your email to make the request valid. As you will appreciate, in such cases we do not want to make an assumption about the true applicant name. This can also affect your ability to appeal to the Scottish Information Commissioner.

The Scottish Information Commissioner advises:
“Where requests are sent by email, the name of the requester should appear in the text of the email, not just in the email address. If the name is not in the body of the email, the request is invalid…However, first names on their own won’t be enough.”

Kind regards

Details of request: Dear Dumfries and Galloway Council,

How much does it cost to send a pupil for day placement 5days a week per term who has autism to an independent school in the same area also do you get a pupil premium for those who have a disability ?

Response:

Cost for individual placements can vary according to the specific level of provision put in place. The basic cost for Day Education provision is £1,060 per week. The term pupil premium is not used within a Scottish Education context. The cost of provision will be met from central budgets as opposed to those devolved to school level
