Cost and Purpose of UK Operation to 'escourt' Russian Warships in English Channel

1. What UK military assets were mobilised to 'escort' Russian war ships which travelled through international waters in the English Channel? (submarines, spy planes, satellites etc.)?
2. Who made this decision to conduct this operation (name(s) and job title(s)?
3. Was the approval of any international authority sough before undertaking this operation, and if so, which?
4. Was the authority of any political organisation sought before undertaking this operation, and if so, which?
5. Was the authority of the government sought before undertaking this operation, and if so, whom (name(s) and job title(s)?
6. What was the total financial cost of mounting the recent UK military operation to 'escort' Russian war ships which travelled through international waters in the English Channel? (an estimated cost with suffice if calculation proves onerous, but please provide details of methodology in this instance)
7. What was the purpose of this operation (i.e. its aims and objectives) (please provide copies of briefing notes or plans)?
8. Was there at any time any active targeting by UK military weapons against the Russian vessels?
9. Under what circumstances could the British warships (and other associated military assets) militarily engage the Russian vessels whilst the Russian ships remained in international waters?
10. What contingency plans, if any, were in place to prevent aggression by UK war ships and other military assets against Russian vessels, and the potential for open warfare (please provide copies of briefing notes or plans)?
11. What contingency plans, if any, were in place to prevent a misunderstanding of UK military intent and threat to the safety of Russian vessels, and the potential for open warfare (please provide copies of briefing notes or plans)?
12. If, for whatever reason, UK military assets opened fire on the Russian vessels, what contingency plans exist to contain the conflict (please provide copies of briefing notes or plans) and prevent an escalation of conflict and warfare?
