Cost and purpose of the Westbere public footpath railway crossing modification

Dear Kent County Council,

Please supply details in response to the following FOI request.

In Westbere, Kent there is one place where a public footpath crosses the railway. In the last 2 years it was modified in a manner which increased the length and was highly fenced off. With regards to this please answer the following specific questions:

1. State the reasons why this work was needed.
2. What public consultation was undertaken to inform this need.
3. A breakdown of expenditure of the works to date, including details of all parties contracted.
4. What future expenditure is foreseen for this project.
5. What is the annual maintenance cost.
6. What was the annual maintenance cost of the old crossing (prior to modification).
