Cost and infomation regarding incident In Old Swan

Phil Owen made this Freedom of Information request to Merseyside Police This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was successful.

Dear Merseyside Police,

On Oct 13th Ronald Street Old Swan was cordoned off as armed police surrounded a house following reports of a man with a knife being holed up inside. This went of for approx 3-4 hours, eventually police gained access to the property to find no one in there. I have a few questions I would like answering please.

1, Why was such a large number of officers sent to deal with it?
2, What other areas where officers called in from?
3, Where firearms/stun grenades/flash bangs discharged by the armed police when they entered the property?
4,How much did this cost the tax payer?
5, Has the suspect been caught, if not is it an on going case?
6, How much did this cost the tax payer?
7, How many other incidents went unattended because officers were at this one?

Yours faithfully,
Phil Owen
