Dear Sir or Madam,

Could you provide a summary list of the topics for the last 20 pieces of correspondence between your Trust and any part of the United Reformed Church, since 1 January 2000? For the summary list, a description of one short sentence for each piece of correspondence would suffice.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Dr Kaihsu Tai

Please give me the area/location for the United Reformed Church and then
I can hopefully get you in touch with the right person.

Regards,
Andrew Jacobs

Dear Andrew,

Thank you for your response. I refer to the Christian denomination United Reformed Church whose headquarters are at Church House, 86 Tavistock Place, London WC1H 9RT. There may also be local churches within the denomination with which your Trust may have had communication; in which case I would appreciate the inclusion of the correspondence in the list. Please indicate if it is the case that no such correspondence existed.

Sincerely,

Kaihsu Tai

Could you please indicate when I am likely to have a response from you? Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Kaihsu Tai

Dear Ms Robinson,

My request for ‘a summary list of the topics for the last 20 pieces of correspondence between your Trust and any part of the United Reformed Church, since 1 January 2000’ is a general request, and does not relate to any specific church or issue concerning the United Reformed Church.

If you would like to claim an exemption, for example under section 12 (Exemption where cost of compliance exceeds appropriate limit) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I am happy to consider it.

I again thank you for your careful consideration.

Sincerely,

Kaihsu Tai

Sarah Robinson,

Dear Dr Kaihsu Tai

I write in response to your request for information regarding
correspondence between the Churches Conservation Trust and the United
Reformed Church.

Firstly I must point out that the Trust is not covered by the provisions
of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. The Act, as you are no doubt
aware, only applies to information held by public authorities, which
this Trust is not. However, in the spirit of the legislation the Trust
wishes to be as helpful as possible.

As far as we are aware the Churches Conservation Trust has had no
correspondence with the United Reformed Church since 2000. This is the
joint recollection of its staff to whom your request was made known. In
order to check the accuracy of our joint memory we would need to look
through the files of our 340 churches and we do not have the resources
to do this.

I consider it unlikely that the Trust has had any correspondence with
the United Reformed Church. The Trust was set up in 1969 under Part III
of the Pastoral Measure 1968 which has as its object the preservation,
in the interests of the nation and the Church of England, of redundant
churches or redundant parts of churches of historic and archaeological
interest or architectural quality vested in it. Until 1 April 1994 it
was known as the Redundant Churches Fund. Thus we deal only with closed
Church of England churches that are deemed to have heritage value.

With all good wishes

Yours sincerely

Sarah Robinson
