Dear Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Prisons for Scotland,
This is a freedom of information request.
I note that in a number of recent inspection reports that the HMIPS make reference to communications with local NHS Trusts or health care partnerships regarding concerns over the health care services provided in Scottish prisons.
Please therefore provide me with electronic copies of the correspondence, both sent and received, between HMIPS staff and local NHS Trusts or associated health care partnerships where concerns over the provision of health services in prisons are discussed.
I am interested in correspondence dated from January 2017 or afterwards.
I understand that this correspondence may contain sensitive personal information, and therefore trust this shall be redacted to mitigate against data protection concerns.
Thank you for your email.
The only inspection that your enquiry relates to is the full inspection of HMP Low Moss and the subsequent return visit to check progress with healthcare. Link to reports on our website.
Our process is to provide face to face feedback following an inspection and provide the detail in our reports. Therefore the healthcare issues that arose following the full inspection were raised face to face with relevant NHS people and then reflected in our report, and the progress made was reported in the return visit report. There was no electronic correspondence between HMIPS and local NHS Trusts or associated health care partnerships regarding concerns over the provision of health services in HMP Low Moss.
I hope you find this helpful.
