Correspondence regarding the Association of Elective Home Education Professionals

The request was successful.

Dear Department for Education,

I note from the minutes of the LHEO obtained by FOI that there was a meeting of the Association of Elective Home Education Professionals held in Staffordshire on 16th October 2014.

I also note that Jenny Dodd from Entrust for Staffordshire CC told Stephen Bishop and Tracey Shield at DfE that information would be sent about the association "so that you can be kept in the loop."

Please could you provide me with copies of internal correspondence within the Department and external correspondence to and from the Department, for the period 16th October 2014 to the present date regarding the Association for Elective Home Education Professionals or any national body representing local authority officers dealing with elective home educating families.

Yours faithfully,

Fiona Nicholson

Dear Department for Education,

Many thanks for the correspondence you have provided which was sent between Jenny Dodd and Stephen Bishop at the end of November 2014.

In the correspondence there is reference to further information being sent to DfE "so you can be kept in the loop."

However, no such information has been provided in response to my FOI.

Is this the full extent of the information provided to the Department regarding the AEHEP?

Yours faithfully,

Fiona Nicholson

DfE wrote to me the same day, January 22nd, to explain that there WAS some information, but it didn't fall within the scope of the request (ie it took place after December 24th)

I replied "Please can you treat this email as a new request for the same information but this time between December 24th and today January 22nd. "

Wasn't sure how to update the status properly. DfE does hold the information but it fell outside the scope of the request so I have made a new request. Therefore I haven't received the information but the response was not late.

I will post further updates here as and when.

Out of interest - how did they respond to you if not via the site? Was it via email?

Fiona Nicholson left an annotation ()

Yes, by email. They know me.

Sorry I meant to update this a couple of days ago but it got overlooked.

I did get a response via email from DfE about this and was able to share it on my website here http://edyourself.org/articles/LAletters...

There were 3 further email exchanges between Christmas 2014 and the end of January 2015, concerning the launch event for the national body, and also the fact that Barry Sheerman had called for a debate on home education in parliament.

I've blogged about the launch event for the AEHEP here
