Correspondence on Princes Avenue resurfacing

The request was successful.

Dear Medway Council,

I am writing to request the following information concerning recent Princes Avenue resurfacing works which took place from 12 March 2018. This has followed speed restrictions placed further up the same road in recent years despite online evidence that the number of accidents was below that in other areas of Chatham, including Luton Road in my own ward.

The Council policy on installation of safety measures and on road resurfacing is that it has to be undertaken after an assessment has taken place and that is compared to other sites across the borough. The Council policy on road resurfacing is the it should occur only if the road is deemed at the appropriate level of degradation.

Therefore I would like all correspondence on following

I) Any emails, letters or correspondence from Conservative MPs, Councillors and representatives including Cabinet members on resurfacing or introduction of speed improvements for Princes Avenue
ii) Any engineers or inspection reports at the time indicating that Princes Avenue should be considered a priority site and any comment from members / cabinet or councillors on this or where such reports or comment do not exist any officer rationale for the spending of public money on this road.

Thanks

Cllr Tris Osborne
Ranking Audit Opposition member.
