Dear Mr Moore

I refer to the email below.  I apologize again for the delay in responding
to your FOI request of 5^th August 2013.  There have been problems
interrogating the system that records details of complaints received by
the Council.  Unfortunately, there is not a report that provides just the
number of complaints.  The only report currently available also includes
comments and compliments.  Between 1^st January 2013 and 30^th August
2013, a total 5,842 cases have been logged – see the attached
spreadsheet.  The complaints are those logged as Stage 1, Stage 2 and
Stage 3.  The report includes the date the complaint was received.

With regard to releasing replies, several of the complaints will have been
resolved/closed following a telephone conversation or a meeting, and there
will not necessarily have been written confirmation to the complainant,
albeit a note of how matters were resolved should have been recorded.
Therefore, I should be grateful if you would let me know if you are
interested in only replies where the response to the complainant was in
writing or whether you want to include those where the complaint was
closed following a discussion with the complainant and a note made.

Yours sincerely
