Dear Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust,
Could you please answer the following questions with regards to this freedom of information request
1.With regards to the first Patient unfortunately dying of corona virus within the Trust could you please clarify if all medical staff treating the Gentleman have all been screened for corona virus?have they been put into self isolation until their results have been made available?
2.Was the Gentleman being nursed in an infection diseases unit?
3.Have the trust got an isolation pod outside of A and E for the assessment of supposed corona virus patients?
4.Could you please clarify if the Trust have a new infection control policy for corona virus other than the normal infection control policies? if so could you please forward me a copy of this policy.
5.How much money has the Trust spent on equipment and PPEs as well as bio hazard suits please give financial statistics for the past four callendar eeeks.
6. Has the Trust got a specialist infection diseases unit ? If not where are confirmed corona disease patients taken to?
7. Can you please clarify if bank nurses are expected to care for confirmed corona disease patients?
8.Can you please clarify if there is a new mandatory training sesion for corona virus other than the normal infection control training ?
9.Is there always medical staff and nursing staff dressed in bio hazard PPEs ready and waiting for the assessment of perceived corona virus patients?
10.Please clarify if the patient was being barrier nurses or was he in a bay with other Patients ?and if so have all these patients been screened for corona virus and isolated as per infection control policy?

I am requesting an internal review into the Trusts non compliance with regards to this Freedom of information request
I know that we are in the middle of a corona virus pandemic but it does not give the Trusts right to break the law.
I wi now take my complaint to the Information commissioner.

The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is committed to the Freedom of

However, the NHS is facing unprecedented challenges relating to the

Further to your request for information, please see the Trust's response
below.

  

1.With regards to the first Patient unfortunately  dying of corona virus
within the Trust could you please clarify if all medical staff treating
the Gentleman have all been screened for corona  virus? have they been put
into self isolation until their results have been made available?

Symptomatic staff were treated appropriately as per Public Health England
(PHE) guidance.

 

2.Was the Gentleman being nursed in an infection  diseases unit?

No.

 

3.Have the trust got an isolation pod outside of A and  E for the
assessment of supposed corona virus patients?

The Trust had a POD on site.

 

4.Could you please clarify if the Trust have a new infection control
policy for corona virus other than the normal infection control policies?
if so could you please forward me a copy of this policy.

The Trust had developed a policy (attached) that was in use until early
March 2020. Since then, the Trust has been following PHE Infection Control
guidance.

5.How much money has the Trust spent on equipment and  PPEs as well as bio
hazard suits please  give financial statistics for the past four calendar
weeks. These have been procured and controlled centrally and is
distributed nationally on a stock allocation so the data is not held by
the Trust.

 

6. Has the Trust got a specialist infection diseases unit ? If not where
are  confirmed corona disease patients taken to?

No.

 

7. Can you please clarify if bank nurses are expected to care for
confirmed corona disease patients?

Yes.

 

8.Can you please clarify if there is a new mandatory training  session for
corona virus other than the normal infection control  training ?

No, however practice education and infection prevention and control teams
are providing ongoing ward based training.

 

9.Is there always medical staff and nursing staff  dressed in bio hazard 
PPEs ready and waiting for the assessment of perceived corona  virus
patients?

No, medical and nursing staff would wear PPE according to PHE guidance.

 

10.Please clarify if the patient was being barrier  nurses or was he  in a
bay with other Patients ?and if so have all these  patients been screened
for corona virus and isolated as per infection control  policy?

No, In this area patients were being screened in accordance with PHE
guidance with social distancing between beds.
