Corona Virus Contagion Policy

Miss Owen made this Freedom of Information request to Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

We're waiting for Miss Owen to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust,

After multiple outbreaks of antibiotic resistant infections at Arrowe Park Hospital, a report compiled by the organisation’s associate director of nursing Jay Turner-Gardner stated: "The hospital-wide outbreak is a consequence of a sub-optimal environment, poor practice in the control of infection, lack of facilities to isolate patients and insufficient priority being given to the control of infection.

"Many wards in Arrowe Park require repair. The nature of the environment and the facilities available means that the control of infection is particularly difficult."

It was estimated it would take over a decade and millions in investment to achieve adequate infection control levels.

Why was Arrowe Park Hospital chosen as a quarantine centre?

Additionally, I would also like to know if the medical/nursing staff at Arrowe Park hospital who are caring for those suspected or confirmed with infection with the corona virus, have had interaction with the public and in particular vulnerable hospital patients?

Yours faithfully,

Miss Owen
