Control Room Registration and CCTV Usage

Tracie Robins made this Freedom of Information request to Information Commissioner's Office

This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Information Commissioner's Office,

I am interested in finding out if Public Health England/Health Protection Agency or EMCOR have registered for the use of CCTV with yourselves, for a site in NW London.

I am also interested to find out, if this has been registered with yourselves, what the intended use of CCTV is for within the Security Control Room.

I'm asking as there is no signage up to say that the Control Room is being monitored on CCTV, nor has anyone been asked if it's ok to be filmed.

Yours faithfully,

Tracie Robins

Information Commissioner's Office

22 January 2020

Case Reference Number IRQ0901644

Dear T Robins,

I write further to your 9 January 2020 email in which you submitted an
information request to the ICO via the What Do They Know website. We have
dealt with your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA)
and our response is below.

Your request

In your email you asked;

“I am interested in finding out if Public Health England/Health Protection
Agency or EMCOR have registered for the use of CCTV with yourselves, for a
site in NW London.

I am also interested to find out, if this has been registered with
yourselves, what the intended use of CCTV is for within the Security
Control Room.”

Our response

I can confirm that EMCOR UK is registered with the ICO and is included on
our Register of fee payers.

Public Health England is also registered with us under the registration of
the Department of Health and Social Care.

You can view the entry details for these organisations on our [1]Data
Protection Register.

We no longer require organisations to provide us with information about
the type of processing they are undertaking. This means that we do not
hold information about the above organisations’ current use of CCTV.

An organisation should inform you if it is processing your personal data.
The organisation should give you privacy information at the time it
collects your data. This is called your [2]‘right to be informed’.

If you are concerned about the way that an organisation is handling
personal data, in the first instance you should contact the organisation
directly. There is guidance on [3]raising a concern with an organisation
that can be found on our website.

If you have contacted the organisation about the problem but have been
unable to solve it, you can raise a complaint with us by sending us a
completed [4]complaint form.

For concerns about how your information was handled you should also send
us relevant supporting evidence, for example:

* Any letters or emails you have sent to the organisation raising your
complaint.
* Any acknowledgement and any other responses you received from the
organisation.

This concludes our response to your request. I hope the information
provided is helpful.

Next steps

If you are dissatisfied with the response you have received and wish to
request a review of our decision or make a complaint about how your
request has been handled you should write to the Information Access team
at the address below or e-mail [5][ICO request email].

Your request for internal review should be submitted to us within 40
working days of receipt by you of this response. Any such request received
after this time will only be considered at the discretion of the
Commissioner.

If having exhausted the review process you are not content that your
request or review has been dealt with correctly, you have a further right
of appeal to this office in our capacity as the statutory complaint
handler under the legislation. To make such an application, please visit
the ‘Concerns’ section of our website to make a Freedom of Information Act
or Environmental Information Regulations complaint online.

A copy of our review procedure is available here
