Contracts with ATOS, Capita and other organisations assessing disability benefit
Dear Department for Work and Pensions,
I would like to request copies of the contracts agreed between the DWP and disability assessment providers such as ATOS and Capita.
Specifically I would like to know if there are terms and conditions in the contract which would provide bonuses (or other extra payments) to the contractor for finding faulty claimants or reducing the overall amount of benefits paid to those who claim disability benefits due to their assessments.
Secondly I would like to know if there is any language in the contract that specifically warns against contractors providing bonuses or other rewards to their employees for successfully finding faulty claimants or reducing the amount of benefits paid to claimants due to their assessments.
The reason for this request is that I believe such terms (or lack of) in the contracts could encourage the contractors, or their employees, to be biased in their assessment of claimants due to a profit motive.
