Dear Suzi

Thank you for the information.

To clarify, is the £1,900,000 from Thames valley Berkshire Deal 2014 the only external funding for constructing the new road junction and if not.

Please may I have a copy of all the relevant documents for the contracts or
agreements West Berks Council have made to secure that additional external funding.

Yours sincerely,

Alan Pearce

Dear Mr Pearce,

Request for information: Contracts to secure the external funding for
constructing the Newbury LRIE A339 junction

Thank you for your email received 8^th February 2021.

The funding for the new junction came from the TVB LEP Growth Deal Funds
and £250k each from the Council’s Local Transport Plan funding and some
s106 contributions for improvements in the Newbury area. The extract below
is from the business case for the new junction and sets out this detail:

When it came to delivering the project, the Projects Team were able to
make the most of the fact that they had contractors on site doing work on
the A339 and extended the scope of the resurfacing work and repaired the
railings on the canal bridge.  This additional work was all funded from
pre-existing funding allocations from the Department for Transport so no
additional external funding was involved.

If you are unhappy with the way your request has been handled or the
outcome of your request, you may ask for an internal review. You should
contact The FoI Reviewing Officer, Strategic Support, Council Offices,
Market Street, Newbury RG14 5LD, email [1][email address] , within 40
working days, if you wish to request a review.
