Dear Sir or Madam,

I am interested in the amount of contracts that have been issued to third parties by the DCSF over the last four years. Please could you provide me with a breakdown of all contracts that have been awarded during this period that are in excess of £400,000. For each, please could you provide me with the name & value of the contract, the start & end dates (including any options to extend), and state to whom the contract was awarded.

Yours faithfully,

Chris Lewis

Department for Children, Schools and Families

Dear Chris,
Thank you for your email dated 23 September about the amount of contracts
that have been issued to third parties by DCSF over the last four years.
I have dealt with your request under the Freedom of Information Act
2000.

The Department doesn't keep central records of contracts that have been
awarded, and estimates that the cost of complying with your request would
exceed the cost threshold applicable to central Government. This is
-L-600 and represents the estimated cost of one person spending 3 1/2
working days locating, retrieving and extracting the information. I have
considered ways in which your request might be narrowed or limited in
order to reduce the cost of complying with it but due to the decentralised
way in which the information is held I don't consider that the Department
would be able to provide the information you have requested without
exceeding the cost limit.

However, contract award notices are placed in Official Journal of the
European Union. They can be viewed on "Tenders Electronic Daily" via the
following link [1]http://simap.europa.eu/index_en.htm. Information is
available on value, name of contract, and to whom it was awarded.

If you have any queries about this letter, please contact me. Please
remember to quote the reference number above in any future communications.

If you are unhappy with the way your request has been handled, you should
make a complaint to the Department by writing to me within two calendar
months of the date of this letter. Your complaint will be considered by
an independent review panel, who were not involved in the original
consideration of your request.

If you are not content with the outcome of your complaint to the
Department, you may then contact the Information Commissioner's Office.
Yours sincerely,

Lisa Wray
