a) the name of the current contractor that has the current taxi contract for councillors for travel in the Wirral on official Council business,
b) the current contract start date and end date,
c) the spend on this contract for the 2013-14 financial year,
d) the name of the contractor/s for this contract during the period before the current contract was awarded,
e) the contract start and end date of the previous contract

Thank you for your request made under the Freedom of Information. Please
find Wirral Borough Council’s response to your enquiry below.
The current contract for the use of taxis by Councillors on official
Council business is held by Eye Cab Ltd.
The makes up part of the Council’s Passenger Transport Contract, which
came into force on 1st September 2014 and runs until 31st August 2015.
Details of the contract can be found on The Chest at [1]this link, and
includes the use of taxis by the Families & Wellbeing Directorate and the
Wirral Travel Solutions project, as well as use by Elected Members.
Prior to 1st September 2014 the Council did not hold a contract for the
use of taxis by Councillors. The Council therefore has no recorded
information regarding start/end date, name of contract holder or contract
expenditure to provide to you as this contract did not exist.
During this period Members were instructed of the process of booking
travel with approved companies, with invoices then submitted to the
Council and approved for payment on a monthly/weekly basis (depending on
the company used).
In accordance with Section 16 of the Act, and to provide you with relevant
advice and assistance, the Council is able to provide the table below
which details the companies used from 1st April 2013 to date and the sums
paid. The use of firms other than Eye Cab Ltd. in 2014/15 took place prior
to the contract beginning on 1^st September.
