Contextual Admissions – Eligibility Criteria for Postcode Duration
Dear University of Cambridge,
I would like to request the following information regarding your contextual admissions process:
1. Does your university use applicants' residential postcodes as part of your contextual admissions policy (e.g. POLAR4, IMD, ACORN, SIMD, etc.)?
If so, what are the eligibility criteria related to postcode? Specifically:
o Is there a minimum length of time (e.g. number of years) an applicant must have lived at a qualifying postcode for it to be considered?
o If a minimum number of years apply for the criteria, what is the date at which the number of years is calculated (eg when a UCAS application is made, the deadline for applying to university, etc)
o Is contextual postcode eligibility based on the applicant’s home address, school address, or both?
o What considerations do you make for contextual grades apart from a contextual reduced offer?
2. If relevant, does moving into a qualifying postcode within 1–2 years prior to applying make an applicant not eligible for contextual consideration?
Yours faithfully,
Anshika S
