Contact with the Met and Sullivan's busses

The request was successful.

Dear Transport for London,

I should like to request a list of the timing of all contacts between the Met, TFL and Sullivan's buses, who provided the vehicles which were used to transport arrestees from the EDL counter-demonstration on the 7th September to police stations.

I would like to have a list of dates, times and which party
initiated each contact. Ideally I should also like a short summary of what was discussed during each contact, but should you find that disclosing that information would be subject to exemptions, then I will be satisfied with just dates and times. I am happy for you to restrict this request only to conversations about the events on the 7th September and related matters.

Yours faithfully,

David Cullen

Dear Mr Cullen

Our ref:  FOI-1143-1314

Thank you for your email received on 27 September 2013 asking for
information about our contact with the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS)
and Sullivan's buses relating to the use of buses by the MPS on 7
September. I am sorry for the delay in replying.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of
Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we
do hold some of the information you require.

The MPS had no direct contact with Sullivan buses. We arrange buses for
the MPS when they are required and Sullivan is just one of those companies
available for contact. Sullivan’s don’t receive any preference when it
comes to the procurement of buses for MPS events; when the MPS ask for
buses we contact numerous bus operators and the work goes to an available
company who meet necessary requirements. We do not have any complete
records of all contact with Sullivan Buses. TfL staff will be in
discussion with bus operators constantly on a range of subjects.

On this occasion, on or around the morning of 27 August 2013 we were asked
by a Chief Inspector in the MPS’ Safer Transport Command to scope out
availability of buses for 7 September 2013.  We responded to the Police
that day and told them that we could arrange five vehicles for their use
on 7 September. The booking on behalf of the MPS was confirmed with
Sullivan on 29 August. On 5 September, after speaking to the MPS, we
confirmed the buses’ reporting instructions for 7 September.

No further detailed information concerning this arrangement is held.

If this is not the information you are looking for please do not hesitate
to contact me.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached
information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely

Graham Hurt
