Consultation process for Albert Square Low Traffic Neighbourhood Works

The request was successful.

Dear Lambeth Borough Council,

Work has recently been carried out to install a permanent traffic filter in Albert Square as part of the Oval Low Traffic Neighbourhood scheme. A consultation process was run between June and July 2022 on the design of other permanent traffic filters in the same LTN area, but the Albert Square design was excluded from this consultation process. Could you please tell me:

1) When the consultation process for the Albert Square traffic filter design took place?
2) Which Lambeth residents were invited to respond to the consultation?
3) Which community groups were invited to respond to the consultation?
4) How many responses to the consultation were received?

Yours faithfully,

Paul Mawdsley

Dear Lambeth Borough Council,

Thank you for response to my recent request for information relating to the design of the permanent traffic filter in Albert Square (your reference IRN17042596). You have provided details of the statutory consultation process operated for the Low Traffic Neighbourhood scheme as a whole, but you have not answered my specific question regarding the consultation process relating to the design of the permanent traffic filters. As my original question stated, a consultation process was run by Lambeth Borough Council regarding the design of other traffic filters in the area in June and July 2022. This included a stakeholder meeting held on 28th June 2022 at Montgomery Hall, and a further meeting on Saturday 2nd July 2022 at St Mark's Church. However, the design of the Albert Square filter was excluded from this process. Could you please answer my original questions with reference to the consultation process for the design of the Albert Square permanent filter design, which must have taken place at some point between 2nd July 2022, and April 2023 when construction started.

Yours faithfully,

Paul Mawdsley

construction started.

Response:

The Albert Square filter in Oval LTN was subject to statutory consultation
prior to the making of traffic orders, which form the legal basis of the
scheme. Public realm works associated with the traffic changes are
relatively minor and not subject to broader, non-statutory engagement.

Representations from the public were received which were unspecific and
did not mention any Oval LTN scheme in particular. Please see the [1]ODDR
Stage 2 Statutory Consultation Report please refer to 2.7.2.8 and appendix
C.
