Dear Sir or Madam,

Re: Freedom of Information Act request on whatdotheyknow.com

It seems that you have yet to to answer my request under the Freedom of Information Act, which you were complied by law to do by the 2nd September 2009.

Since you are now breaking the law by not replying, I am requesting an internal review of the request, and I would welcome a prompt answer to my query.

Yours faithfully,

Bob Brownhills

Dear Bob Brownhills,

Further to your request for information about the consultation process
regarding the lorry park, I can tell you the following:

The consultation event(s) which took place in July/August 2008 were
attended by a mixture of residents and traders from Walsall Wood High
Street and the surrounding area.

Amongst the various development options for Walsall Wood High Street were
those relating to the Lorry Park which were:

1. Keep the Lorry Park as it is.
2. The Lorry Park to be operational overnight only, with the facility for
CARS ONLY between 7am-7pm
3. For the Lorry Park to be changed over to a Car Park only.

At the end of the consultation session which was an interactive workshop
giving the attendees an opportunity to work together to come up with
various options, a show of hands vote was undertaken to assess those who
were in favour of the options for the Lorry Park given above. The
majority of those in attendance voted that they wanted to see the Lorry
Park change over to a car park only. Out of those in attendance, there
were 12 traders and 6 residents. 3 ward councillors attended along with 7
WMBC staff. Of the 18 people eligible for the options voting, 15 showed
their hands in favour of the Lorry Park changing over to a car park only.
(This equates to 83%)

FURTHER TO THIS:

In September 2008, a consultation exercise relating to the public realm
improvements of Walsall Wood including the Brooklands Road Open Space
Improvements and the Village Green Proposals. As part of Cherry's
consultation a questionnaire was produced which was an opportunity for
people to express their views on the proposals and also included in this
was a section on the Lorry Park featuring the question:

"Would you like to see the existing lorry park turned over to a long stay
car park?" (YES/NO Tick-box)

Having reviewed the consultation responses received, of the 83 people who
responded to the questionnaire:

61 people (73%) said that they wanted to see the lorry park turned over to
a car park only.

18 people (21%) said that they did not want to see the changeover

3 people did not specify.
