Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,
How many consultants have been employed to calculate housing figures for Wirral since 2016 to date and at what cost?
Dear Mr Simpson,
Thank you for your recent request made under the Freedom of Information
Act 2000. Our response is below as follows:
There are three separate pieces of work undertaken by external consultants
relating to the assessment of Local housing need:
Wirral SHMA (Strategic Housing Market Assessment) and Housing Needs Study
2016 - undertaken by Nathaniel Lichfield & Partners (now known as
Lichfields). Total final cost: £56,020. (Note: In addition to assessing
the overall level of housing need, the scope of the study also included
the provision of more detailed information with regard to the need for
affordable housing and the needs of particular groups)
Evaluating the validity of the population and household projections
underpinning the Wirral Local Plan: A response to public submissions –
undertaken by Liverpool University. Total cost: £15,500.00 (also reviews
the existing evidence for Wirral including the ONS household projections).
Strategic Housing Market Assessment 2019 – being undertaken by Arc4 - this
study is still in progress and final invoices have not yet been submitted.
(Note: as with the 2016 SHMA, this is a far wider study than just the
calculation of local housing need - it is looking at the components of the
various different types of housing needed across the Borough).
I trust this will be of assistance to your enquiries.
