I write on behalf of the University of Leicester in response to your request, dated 23rd May 2018 made under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Our response is as follows:

1. under what heading in your financial accounts is the expenditure for individual consultancy work, and commissions (excluding clinical work)?
Consultancy fees and commission costs are both reported within Other Operating Expenses in the University’s Financial Statements (see link below).

Note that individual consultancy work and commissions are not separately disclosed in the financial statements, however a separate analysis of payments from our account payables ledger for 2016/17 shows that a total of £282,262 was paid to individuals (excluding clinical work).
