Consequences of Holbeck Sex Worker Safe Zone

Dear Leeds City Council,

I would like to request a few statistics regarding the sex worker safe zone which has been created in Holbeck.

Firstly, has the introduction of the safe zone seen an increase or decrease regarding to the number of sex workers operating in Leeds. Please provide relevant stats.

Secondly, has the introduction of the safe zone seen an increase or decrease in the number of violent incidents concerning sex workers/ their clients. Please provide relevant stats.

Thirdly, has the introduction of the safe zone seen an increase or decrease in the spread of sexually transmitted diseases amongst sex workers and their clients. Please provide relevant stats.

They shouldn't be encouraged by safe zones. These people need help to turn their lives around. Society has gone barmy these days. It seems we faclitate people to do what is wrong rather than helping them turn things round.

People who make a stand for decency are increasingly finding themselves arrested for doing so too.

I refer to the above and your request dated 11, August 2017. I have
contacted the relevant services and now provide a response to the
following request Consequences of Holbeck Sex Worker Safe Zone.

 

1.     Firstly, has the introduction of the safe zone seen an increase or
decrease regarding to the number of sex workers operating in Leeds. Please

Leeds City Council does not hold the requested information.

 

2.     Secondly, has the introduction of the safe zone seen an increase or
decrease in the number of violent incidents concerning sex workers/ their
clients. Please provide relevant stats.

Leeds City Council does not hold the requested information. Public
authorities have a duty to provide advice and assistance under section 16
of FOIA, therefore, some information relating to incidents may be
available from West Yorkshire police; but may require research to be
undertaken as this is not a standard reporting field. Other data may be

3.     Thirdly, has the introduction of the safe zone seen an increase or
decrease in the spread of sexually transmitted diseases amongst sex
workers and their clients. Please provide relevant stats.

Leeds City Council does not hold the requested information.
