Conflict of interests..........

Department of Health and Social Care did not have the information requested.

Dear Department of Health,

1) It has come to my attention that you oversee the work of the Care Quality Commission, but does it concern yourselves that the UK police are involved in a conflict of interests in care matters?

2) How can the best of care be given when the UK police are employing convicted paedophiles? they are after all involved with the Disclosure and Barring Service (CRB).

3) Why has this not been brought to your attention via the Care Quality Commission?

4) How can so called authorities be impartial when they are employing people with serious crimes?

5) We have a conflict of interests going on here, are you prepared to do something positive to help vulnerable people?

To get things into perspective, please have a look at this link >>> LINK: Police Officers charged/convicted of an offence 2009 to 2016 Version 30

Yours faithfully,

Actually FoI law doesn't require an authority to answer questions on policy such as those you've asked. It requires them to disclose recorded information. You haven't asked for any. They will deal with your enquiry as general correspondence. DH are usually fairly quick, but there's no statutory requirement for a specific response time.

Dear Mr Danby,

Thank you for your further correspondence of 23 July about the Care
Quality Commission.  I have been asked to reply.

Anne Lavan replied to your original correspondence on 7 July (our ref:
DE-1039836).  I trust you have now received that email, but I have copied
it below for ease of reference:

Dear Mr Danby,

Thank you for your correspondence of 23 June about the Care Quality
Commission (CQC).  Your correspondence has not been classed as a Freedom
of Information request.  I have been asked to reply.

I note your concerns about the CQC.  The CQC is the independent regulator
of health and adult social care providers in England and has a key
responsibility in the overall assurance of safety and quality of health
and adult social care services.  The CQC is responsible for developing and
consulting on its methods for inspecting and rating providers and it has
complete independence in its judgements.

Independence in the regulation of providers is important as it enables an
objective assessment of performance.  The CQC has therefore been
established to operate with an independent voice, free of intervention
from the Department of Health.  This independence is central to its
credibility as an authoritative source of information about the quality
and safety of health and adult social care.  The Care Act 2014 repealed or
amended those Secretary of State’s powers that could actively constrain
CQC’s operational independence, including the power to prescribe, by
regulations, CQC’s inspection programme and methodology.

Given the CQC’s independence, the Department of Health cannot comment upon
or intervene in its procedures.  You may therefore wish to contact the CQC
directly to raise your concerns.  The contact details are:

CQC National Customer Service Centre

Citygate

Gallowgate

Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 4PA

Telephone:  03000 616161

I also note your concerns about issues relating to police officers.  If
you wish to raise concerns you may wish to consult the Independent Police
Complaints Commission website at [1]www.ipcc.gov.uk for information on the
complaints process.

I hope this reply is helpful.

Yours sincerely,
