Concessionary travel pass equality within Merseyside
Dear Halton Borough Council,
What actions are or will be taken to give Halton residents equality with their concessionary travel passes for access to rail travel within the Merseyside area with those in the other five boroughs.
Yours faithfully,
James A Owen
Dear Mr Owen
Firstly, thank you for your enquiry. The Council are currently undergoing a period of harmonisation with a view to completing full integration into the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority by April 2018. However, Halton Council is currently part of the Cheshire wide concessionary travel scheme which, does not expire until March 2018 and as a result it is anticipated that current travel arrangements will remain in place until at least this date. Further work is also required to identify the required budget provision to enable the potential extension of the existing scheme.
