Computer records of bankrupts

The request was successful.

Dear Insolvency Service,

How long does the Insolvency Service keep computer records relating to individual bankruptcies?

Secondly, in the context of fair and accountable banking, is the Insolvency service able to identify the administrative fees it takes in relation to each bankruptcy?

Yours faithfully,

Bob Winsor

Dear FOI,
Regarding a CPS Recorder, the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau, a Police and Crime Commissioner and an All Party Parliamentary Group all finding malfeasance or multiple frauds by Official Receivers. Will you please supply the number of complaints the Insolvency Service has received *against* ORs and Private Insolvency Practitioners?

Here is an email from a Police and Crime Commissioner in the context of three ORs acting contrary to a court order of Mr Justice Cobb. This was after a forensic accountant examiner had found found conclusive proof of document tampering in order to commit fraud.

It is difficult to tackle when the regulatory Authorities, who should deal with this, do their best to cover up rather than expose. I cannot take on individual cases, there are vastly too many. However there is progress in bringing the whole scandal to public attention, I am doing my best!

I put out a public statement today about this, and I gather the Times will have an article on this tomorrow or Wednesday. Yes the frauds are systemic and widespread. It does seem as though it is at last getting the attention it needs, but it will take further time,

I get the impression there is a close cabal of major legal firms. Smaller legal practices are frightened of taking them on, both because they will not get business referred to them, and also that it will damage personal career prospects.

The Treasury Select Committee is looking into Economic Crime. I have made a submission, and hope to be called before the Committee. If I am it allows me to open up a number of things,

There is a limit to what I can do. Your email is just one of a great many I receive on fraud every day. I file these, and, where I can, I try to get action taken. However when the issue is firmly in another area, such as yours, then I hope the local PCC will take action if they can. I am pushing for a proper judicial public inquiry into bank and accountancy fraud, and your case, being on file, will be submitted.

Yours sincerely,

Bob Winsor

FOI, Insolvency Service

Good afternoon, Mr Winsor

BEIS have passed correspondence to the Insolvency Service for us to respond to you. This correspondence contained requests for information of a similar nature to the request we have logged under request reference FOI20/21-221. These additional questions have been added to your original request.

To confirm, the additional questions are:

- Does the department have access to computer records of bankrupts in the context of Secretary of State fees?
- If so, how far back do these records go?
- Finally, does the SoS keep records of monies taken in administration fees which can be traced to individual bankruptcy in the context of fair and accountable banking?
