Complaints made about street beggars
Dear Leicester City Council,
Regading the Street begging support survey, I read that
"Residents, businesses and visitors have raised concerns with the city council and the police about the extent of begging, especially in the city centre. Complaints have been received about aggressive and nuisance behaviour, noise, harassment, intimidation and other anti-social behaviour associated with street begging."
This FOI is to ascertain what these complaints are, when and to whom they were made.
I am more than curious to know because of the most recent high profile case involving arresting a homeless man for not moving on when asked, based upon 'numerous complaints' made by the Leicester public. I'm sure you're aware that the case against James McLean collapsed when the Judge discovered that these complaints had come from one person working at Radio leicester (which over looked his camp on Jubilee Square).
I would hate the council and police to waste all that time and money again.
Yours faithfully,
Shane Bordoli
