Our Ref. FR05981

Dear Ms Soeder

Thank you for your email dated 26 January 2019, in which you ask for the
number of fitness to practise complaints the HCPC has received about
social workers working for Cafcass.

Your request has been handled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000
(FOIA).

We are unable to provide the information requested as the information is
not held in an easily accessible format. In order for us to provide you
with the information you have requested we would need to examine
individual fitness to practise (FTP) cases and extract the relevant
information and this would exceed the cost limit under Section 12 of the
FOIA, that being £450.

Staff time can be charged at £25 per hour for employee time, which is a
total of 18 hours before the limit is met. We estimate to access each case
and extract the relevant information would take 5 minutes per case.
Between 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2018 we received a total of 1,174 FTP
concerns about social workers in England. 1,174 multiplied by 7 minutes
equates to 97 hours, therefore exceeding the cost limit.

Sorry that we are unable to assist you further with your request.
