Complaint about barrister under Investigation

ismail made this Freedom of Information request to General Council of the Bar

The request was successful.

Dear General Council of the Bar,

Can a barrister for whom I made a complaint to the bar Standards talk about her complaint to a high Court Judge during a hearing?

The barrister concerned has addressed her complaint and dissatisfaction/anger about this during a hearing which has caused harm to myself. Her complaint is under investigation.

I have been however informed that the barrister has done the correct thing and has not breached her code of conduct. As far as i have read, barrister should conduct appropriately in court.

I will appreciate if any evidence is provided to me in relation to the disclosure of complaint issues in an open court.

Yours faithfully,

MRS ismail

Toby Craig, General Council of the Bar

Dear Mrs Ismail,

Thank you for your inquiry.

I would suggest that your question is better posed to the Bar Standards Board, the independent regulator of barristers in England and Wales, which might be better placed to assist.

The Bar Standards Board can be contacted via http://www.barstandardsboard.org.uk/ or by telephone at 020 7611 1444.

Yours sincerely,

Toby Craig
