The request was partially successful.

Dear General Council of the Bar,

A barrister (Ms Bhogal) has not followed her code of ethics and has misconducted in her judicial profession.

A complaint was lodged in the Bar Standards Board since 5 months.

1. How long does a complaint take to be investigated?

2. What should the complainant do if no response is obtained by the Bar Standards despite various contacts?

Yours faithfully,

Mrs ismail

Toby Craig, General Council of the Bar

Dear Mrs Ismail,

Thank you for your enquiry. Whilst the Bar Council and Bar Standards Board are not bound by the Freedom of Information Act, the Bar Standards Board, the Bar's independent does have a 'complaint against service' procedure and it does have an independent observer.

Consequently, I have referred this matter to the Bar Standards Board, as it is best placed to deal with the substance of your request.

Yours sincerely,

Toby Craig
