Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,

1. Please explain the decision making process for selecting which sports to televise on BBC.

2. Please explain the rationale behind recent decisions not to televise swimming on BBC.

3. Will the British Swimming Championships in April 2020 be televised given the high importance of the swimming meet?

4. If you can’t answer question 3, when will the decision be made?

5. As a public service broadcaster for which all viewers are taxed through their TV licence, is it now viewed by your leadership as an obligation to broadcast sporting events in disciplines that over 60% of the population partake in?

Yours faithfully,

James Hopper

Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of British Broadcasting Corporation's handling of my FOI request 'Competitive Swimming on BBC TV'.

I fundamentally disagree with your response that my request for information is related to journalism, art ot literature. My request is to determine how decisions are made to invest licence fee or other funds which are generated from UK taxes. This is about the decision making from a public monies perspective, and why one of the nation’s mass participation sports seems to be excluded from the use of these funds for broadcasting.

Thank you.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/c...

Yours faithfully,

James Hopper

Hi James

Please note that as stated on your FOI response RFI20191510 the BBC does not offer an internal review when the information requested is not covered by the Act. If you disagree with our decision you can appeal to the Information Commissioner. Contact details are: Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF, tel: 0303 123 1113 or see http://www.ico.org.uk

Please note that should the Information Commissioner’s Office decide that the Act does cover this information, exemptions under the Act might then apply.

Kind regards
