Compensation paid for footpaths not properly maintained

The request was successful.

Laurence Scotford

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of
Information Act (2000).

Since 2003/04 to the end of the 2008/09 financial year, please could you tell me how much compensation you have paid people in cases where you have accepted liability for not maintaining Public Footpaths and how many such payments have been made?

For each payment please state the amount paid out, where the
footpath was for which liability was accepted and a summary of the incident (e.g. broken bridge etc.).

Please note that the question relates to the period in which you have paid out compensation, not the period in which the incident took place, so incidents that took place prior to 2003/04 but were paid out between 2003/04 and 2008/09 inclusive should be included.

Yours faithfully,

Laurence Scotford

Freedom Of Information, Brighton and Hove City Council

respond as quickly as possible but not later than 5 June 2009.
