Community Safety Projects

Andrew Langton made this Freedom of Information request to Leicestershire Police and Crime Panel

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Leicestershire Police and Crime Panel,

On 30 January 2013 a meeting of the Panel generated significant publicity regarding the allocation of funds to community safety projects. The journalists reporting on the meeting failed to inform the public what those projects are or anything about them.

1. Could you please tell me the names of all of all such projects currently operating in 2012/13.

2. In respect of each of the projects listed at 1. above, what is (a) the total budget allocation for 2012/13, (b) the financial contributions made by each contributing partner/agency.

3. In respect of each of the projects listed at 1. above, what is the name of the lead public body from which more detailed information may be obtained.

4. In respect of each of the projects listed at 1. above, please supply copies of all performance data made available to the Leicestershire Police and Crime Panel members before 30 January 2013 which enabled them to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of those projects.

Yours faithfully,

Andrew Langton

Dear Leicestershire Police and Crime Panel,

I am wondering why I have not yet received a response to my request. Cllr Orson, Chair of the PCP, spoke at length on the topic at the County Council meeting held on 20 February 2013. Cllr Orson was able to inform the meeting that funded partnerships were responsible for 50% of the reduction seen in antisocial behaviour. He was also able to say that a saving of £10 in public expenditure was achieved for every £1 spent on partnerships.

Clearly Cllr Orson has access to the information I seek, why has it not been supplied to me?

Yours faithfully,

Andrew Langton
