Information Act (FOIA) 2000, relating to the community equipment service.
I am pleased to provide the response below:

 

1) Who is your current Community Equipment Service provider:

• Service provided in house

• Millbrook

Current Community Equipment service is provided by Commercial Services
Kent Ltd (owned by Kent County Council) and Kent Community Health NHS
Foundation Trust.  This contract finishes 29th November 2015.

A new contract commences 30th November 2015 with Nottingham Rehab Ltd
(Trading as NRS Healthcare)

 

2) Do you have a joint contract with one or more local Clinical
Commissioning Groups? Yes/No

If yes please provide the names of the CCG or CCGs that are part of the
joint arrangement:

There is a new joint arrangement between KCC and the 7 Kent Clinical
Commissioning Groups.  In relation to the new contract with NRS Healthcare
starting 30th November 2015, there is a s.75 agreement and a back to back
contract in place between the Kent County Council and the following 7
CCGs:  West Kent CCG, Dartford Gravesham and Swanley CCG, Swale CCG,
Canterbury CCG, Ashford CCG, Thanet CCG, South Kent Coast CCG. Kent County
Council is the host partner.

 

3) What is the population covered by your community equipment service?

 

1.45million

 

4) Does the service cover the provision of equipment to under 18s as well
as people over 18?

 

Yes

 

5) When did you last tender the contract? 

 

An advert was placed in the EU journal on 7th February 2015 number 2015/S
027-045524 requesting expressions of interest from prospective providers. 
 

 

6) As a result of the tender did you change provider? 

 

Yes

 

7) What date did your current contract start?

 

The new contract with NRS Healthcare starts 30th November 2015.  The
current service has always been provided in-house by NHS or Kent County
Council.

 

8) Please provide the financial value of the contract in the last 12
months of the previous contract (value and period covered)      

 

Total amount spent on Community Equipment Service between 1st April 2014
to 31st March 2015 was £6.8m. This includes both telecare and occupational
therapy equipment. It also includes expenditure jointly funded by both KCC
and partners through a pooled budget arrangement.

   

9) Please provide the financial value of the contract in the first 12
months of the current contract (value and period covered)

 

The new contract does not come into effect until 30th November 2015
therefore we are not able to provide a response to this question at this
time.
