Dear Mr Strauss,
Thank you for your email of 31 December 2019 (responding to our letter of 17 December 2019) and apologies for our delayed response; the University has been closed for the Christmas and New Year period.
Your original request was entirely without limitation in terms of scope of correspondents and for that reason we did not feel able to offer advice and assistance as to how it might be narrowed effectively to bring it within the appropriate limit. Self-evidently, a request limited to, for example, the Vice-Chancellor, would be unlikely to attract the same refusal. If you wish to submit a new limited request of this sort we could consider it afresh. Alternatively, if you wish to request a review of our handling of your original request you have the right to do so.
