Common Purpose

Dorset Police Authority did not have the information requested.

Dear Dorset Police Authority,

Common Purpose is a sinister form of training used in the third sector and heavily documented on the website www.cpexposed.com.

How much money did your authority spend on Common Purpose training in the last financial year? Who were the beneficiaries and recipients of this training? Who assisted in its financing?

It is my opinion that Common Purpose training using neuro- linguistic programming encourages ruling without authority and is damaging to the force and the people that they are supposed to serve. It is in the public interest to know.

For truth, reason and justice,

A.Gray

Goscomb, Martin,

Thank you for your e-mail.

I am currently away on my Summer leave returning to the office formally on Monday 16 August.

During my absence, Mrs Cathy Barfoot will be monitoring my e-mail account and Penny Ford will seek to progress any urgent items that cannot await my return.

Best regards

Martin Goscomb
Chief Executive
Dorset Police Authority

Dear Goscomb, Martin,

By law, Dorset Police Authority should have responded to my request under The Freedom of Information Act promptly, and by 31 August 2010. This request was regarding details of the amount the authority has spent on common Purpose training, and who were the beneficiaries . They have failed to do so. I request an answer and an internal review.

Yours sincerely,

A.Gray

Dear A. Gray,

I detail below a copy of our response which was sent to you on the 3^rd of
September 2010. I do not know why you did not receive this response.

I am aware that you have requested an Internal Review from the Police
Authority, however the response is detailed below and I consider there no
need for an internal review at this stage.

Sent: 03 September 2010 13:51

Subject: Response from Dorset Police reference 2010-342

Dear A Gray,

I write in connection with your request for information which was received
by the Dorset Police Authority on the 3^rd August 2010. This matter was
transferred to Dorset Police since, if any information was held, we would
hold it.

I note your further email to Dorset Police Authority and would point out
that by our calculation the response should have been sent out on 1^st
September and I should apologise that the need to check our response
caused this slight delay. We will however not review the matter since we
provide our response below.

Following the receipt of your request searches were conducted within our
Learning and Development Unit to locate any information held relevant to
your request.

You specifically asked the following;

How much money did your authority spend on Common Purpose training in the
last financial year?

Who were the beneficiaries and recipients of this training?

Who assisted in its financing?

We have located no records relevant to any such training within Dorset
Police and therefore our response to your request must be one of `No
Information Held'. Practically, this means that my enquiries indicate that
neither Dorset Police nor Dorset Police Authority have used Common Purpose
for any training during the relevant time.

Dorset Police provides you the right to request a re-examination of your
case under its review procedure. If you decide to request such a review
you should address your request to the Head of the Information Compliance
Unit, Professional Standards Department, Dorset Police Headquarters,
Winfrith, Dorchester, Dorset DT2 8DZ or [1][email address] .You
have a further right to ask the Information Commissioners Office to decide
whether or not your request has been appropriately dealt with, but they
will not consider your complaint until the Dorset Police Review Procedure
has been concluded.

Yours sincerely
