Dear Bangor University,
"Universities have a general duty of care to their students - not to cause harm by careless acts or omissions – commensurate with their role and capabilities as settings for adult education" (Universities UK, 2023).
Please supply any internal or external university documentation that explains the nature and extent of this Common Law duty of care, placed on every member of staff, and owed to each enrolled student.
Yours faithfully,

Dear Gillian Green,
Further to your request for information, the University’s response is
below:
There is no single document that explains the nature and extent of the
Common Law duty of care referred to in your request. The University has
many policies and procedures to ensure that students are as safe as
possible whilst studying at Bangor and that appropriate support can be
accessed when needed. You can view some examples here [1]Student Services
& Administration | Bangor University.
Please note that the University has a formal complaints procedure. If you
are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your request
and wish to make a complaint or request a review of our decision you
should write to the University’s Legal & Compliance Services in the first
instance ([2][Bangor University request email]) explaining the grounds for your
complaint. In line with guidance from the Information Commissioner’s
Office, an appeal request must be submitted within 40 working days of the
University’s final response to this Freedom of Information Act request.
Kind regards,
