I refer to the most recent round of appointments to the Youth Justice Board.

For clarity, I am referring to the round of appointments for which the closing date was 18/09/2017 ref PAT150032-YJB-MEMBERS

Please will you provide the following information?

Please contact me in the unlikely event that this information is felt by yourselves to be outside of scope or would breach the time limit for requests, if so please contact me providing reasons for this and I will refine the scope of my request accordingly.

Please note my request falls into two parts A (subdivided) and B.

A

i) How many people applied to be a Member of the Board?

Please provide a full breakdown of information on applicants according to the following category

Ethnicity – how many applicants declared their ethnicity according to the following categories?

African
Caribbean
Other Black origin
Bangladeshi
Chinese
Indian
Pakistani
Other Asian origin
Of more than one ethnicity
British, Irish or other White Background

ii) How many people were shortlisted for interview?

Ethnicity – how many shortlisted applicants declared their ethnicity according to each of the following categories?

iii) How many names were passed to the Secretary of State for Consideration?

For each of the names passed to the Secretary of State for Consideration

iv) How many people were appointed to the Board? Please supply their names.

B

Of categories iii) and iv) referred to above (i.e. names passed to the Secretary of State for consideration and successful applicants) please will you indicate, on an individual basis, how many of these people were known to the Chair, the Secretary of State or other members of the Board, or senior staff at the Youth Justice Board or the Ministry of Justice.

This would include, but would clearly not be exclusive to, people who were reappointed to the Board having been current or previous YJB members at the time of the most recent process.

For each instance in which an applicant was known to the Chair of the Board, Secretary of State, a Board Member, or a senior staff member of the YJB and/or the Ministry of Justice please explain in detail what that relationship is or was i.e. “current member of the YJB”, “former professional colleague of the Chief Executive”, “social contact of the Chair of the YJB”.

For each such person please supply their ethnicity as per the details in part A of my request.
