Comments on UUK Briefing Paper

The request was refused by Loughborough University.

I am writing to request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 any response that you made to Universities UK subsequent to their request for comments or views (made in their briefing paper "2017 USS Valuation: Briefing paper for USS Employers" issued on the 5 July 2018, which specified 7 areas for discussion) in relation to the USS valuation.

In response to your Freedom of Information request dated August 2018, I
can confirm that we hold the information requested but that we have taken
the decision to refuse your request for information in accordance with
Section 36 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 - Prejudice to effective
conduct of public affairs. 

 

Your request has been discussed at a very senior level within the
University and the appropriately qualified person has taken the view that
the disclosure of the information

would, or would be likely to, inhibit—

(ii) the free and frank exchange of views for the purposes of
deliberation,

The purpose of the consultation to help inform UUK in preparing a sector
response.  The University’s response was just one submission and was
prepared for this sole purpose, not for release into the public domain.

Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in responding; FOI
requests are the responsibility of the Academic Registry and this is an
exceptionally busy time of year for us.
