Marta Giulia Ponti

Dear Health and Safety Executive,

Could you please send me the most updated list of Upper and Lower-Tier COMAH Establishments in UK with a format compatible to GIS? It would be also very useful to obtain a list of establishments which are not subjected to the COMAH directive, in the same GIS compatible format, if possible.

Yours faithfully, many thanks

Thank you for your request, copied below. Please find
attached your requested information on Upper and Lower Tier COMAH
Establishments. This information has been supplied in accordance with our
Security Services guidance on release. GIS format data is not held. Use
postcode in any Coordinate Batch Conversion Tool or GIS tool to establish
this format of data.

Provision of ‘a list of establishments which are not subjected to the
COMAH’ would be significantly above the cost limit that the government has
set for dealing with FOIs i.e. £600 this is due to the volume on the
operational database and the necessary cleansing that would be needed
before supplying the information.

We do not hold information for Northern Ireland. This is available from

The HSE webpages now contain a search function for COMAH establishments.
This function will be built-up over time and is intended to provide more
information to the public regarding the establishments in the surrounding
area. [2]
