Cold war Sites
Dear Cadw: Welsh Historic Monuments,
Has any consideration been given to turning some of the old cold war sites (designed for civil defence) into a museum? I know that English heritage have done this with one of their old site (http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit...), I was just wondering if this has been considered for ANY old cold war site in Wales.
Yours faithfully,
Jonathan Mantle
Dear Mr Mantle,
Thank you for your enquiry to Cadw regarding the conversion of former Cold
War sites in Wales into museums. This has been passed to the Museums,
Archives and Libraries Division which administers the UK Museum
Accreditation scheme in Wales and provides specialist advice to museums.
We have not, however, received any requests for advice or support to open
any museums based on Cold War sites.
The Welsh Government does not establish nor directly run any museums but
information for people interested in establishing new museums can be found
on our webpages:
