Code of Conduct for Managers.

D. Speers made this Freedom of Information request to Independent Regulator of NHS Foundation Trusts

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Independent Regulator of NHS Foundation Trusts should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Monitor - Independent Regulator of NHS Foundation Trusts,

I understand from the Dept of Health that the Code of Conduct for NHS Managers (endorsed by many NHS senior management teams) is not applicable in trusts with Foundation Trust status.
Therefore, can you please let me have the Monitor Code of Conduct for Foundation Trust Managers.

Thank you and Happy New Year.
Yours faithfully,

D. Speers

FOI, Independent Regulator of NHS Foundation Trusts

Estelle Hook, Independent Regulator of NHS Foundation Trusts

Dear Ms Speers - many thanks for your email. Please note that we are responding to your email as a general enquiry rather than as an FOI request and please do let me know if you have any further questions.

The NHS Code of Conduct does not apply to NHS foundation trusts. There is not a Monitor Code. Many NHS foundation trusts will have carried over the principles of the NHS Code of Conduct, from their time as NHS trusts, into their new status. However, use of the NHS Code of Conduct is a matter for NHS foundation trusts to determine themselves.

We do have some best practice guidance which is relevant to foundation trusts generally - the Code of Governance - and it's available on the following link on our website.

Please let me know if you would like any further information.
Thanks
Estelle
