Dear Comhairle nan Eilean Siar,

Under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, I request the following information regarding climate change projections and mitigation strategies for the Uists:

- Any impact assessments held by the Council on the effects of climate change on the Uists, particularly regarding coastal erosion, flooding and sea level rise.

- Information on current or proposed plans, policies and actions to mitigate climate risks and impacts for Uist communities and infrastructure.

- Projections for future climate risks to the Uists, such as 100 or 500 year flood models.

- Details of any partnerships, funding applications or initiatives focused on climate adaptation and resilience in the Uists.

- Please provide any relevant reports, assessments, meeting minutes or policy documents held by the Council.

Good Morning Mr Campbell,
Ref FOI 2023101827000864, we apologise for the delay in responding to your request.

On November 7, the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s IT system was affected by a criminal cyber incident. Police Scotland, the Scottish Government, the National Cyber Security Centre and The Scottish Information Commissioner are working with the Comhairle in response to this event.

The Comhairle’s systems are currently unavailable for the purposes of Freedom of information inquiries.

We attach here a copy of the response which was in progress prior to the incident. You will see it includes links to material on the CnES website which unfortunately is not currently available .

In these circumstances, section 17 (1) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 applies and we are required to notify you that the information you requested is not held. Therefore, this is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Comhairle does not hold the information you have requested in respect of some aspects of your request.

We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause and suggest you resubmit your request in a few months’ time.
