Closure of Epsom Post Office 74 High Street 23rd January 2017 & Welwyn Garden City PO
Dear Post Office Limited,
Under the F of IA please supply this information as an ongoing investigation into Post Office closures taking place across the UK.
I am not requesting detailed answers but only in brief so that they can be followed up if the need arises.
EPSOM POST OFFICE
1. How many staff were made redundant who worked at the post office counter and what is the name of the Licensee or Temp Licensee?
2. Were staff issued redundancy letters and a redundancy payment? If not why not?
3. Were staff offered alternative employment? If not why not? Does the Temp Licensee manage any other Post Offices?
4. What is the name/s of the last 3 Licensee holders/Temporary ones for Epsom PO.
5. What other PO's did each in question 4 manage and which offices do they currently manage?
6. Who vetted these people/companies before appointing them?
7. How many times in the past 5 years was Epsom PO closed and what date/s and why?
8. What date did PO Ltd know Epsom PO was in trouble with premises and the Licensee?
9. What action did PO Ltd take to make a contingency plan on any dates before the closure on 23rd January 2017?
10. What are the names/companies that have managed Welwyn Garden City post office for the past 6 years?
11. Why was Welwyn Garden City post office closed down without notice.
12. How many staff were made redundant who worked at the post office counter and what is the name of the Licensee or Temp Licensee?
13. Were staff issued redundancy letters and a redundancy payment? If not why not?
14. Were staff offered alternative employment? If not why not?
15. Does the last Temp Licensee manage any other Post Offices and what is the name/company ?
16. Produce all letters/emails written to and from the MP Chris Grayling on the closure of Epsom Post Office to and from PO ltd in January 2017 (if possible on e-mail) or confirm such letters took place before the Epsom PO was closed down.
17. What is the exact day the staff at Epsom PO were told they were made redundant and by whom?
18. If it was a temporary closure as advertised on the Epsom PO front door what information was provided to the staff about their employment rights and by whom?
19. As a public service why are the closure notices placed on the PO front doors e.g. Epsom PO stuck on with ugly pieces of tape giving an appearance of unprofessional and careless manner to the public by PO Ltd?
20. Why did PO Ltd make claims of Temporary Closure of Epsom Post Office and mislead the public?
21. When will Epsom PO re-open and will any of the staff be re-employed under TUPE?
22. How many post offices have closed down in similar circumstances to Epsom Post Office in the past 5 years?
