Clinical trial to assess the potential benefits and harms of puberty suppressing hormones.
Dear Department of Health and Social Care,
On 4th September 2024 Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting, put out a statement (see link below) in which he stated that:
"In partnership with the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), NHS England is launching a clinical trial to assess the potential benefits and harms of puberty suppressing hormones.
"Within this trial, the effects of puberty blockers can be safely monitored, and the research will give government and the NHS the evidence we need to decide whether they can be used as a safe and effective treatment. The trial aims to begin recruiting participants early in the new year."

My questions are:
1. Has the proposed NHSE study gone though the research ethics approval process?
2. Has the proposed study been approved by a research ethics committee?
3. If the proposed study has been ethically approved, is the decision publicly available?
Yours faithfully,
L. Baxter
