Dear Halush Brinton

Thank you for your FOI request sent on 6 April 2023. You asked:

Please provide a copies of your:

1. Picture archiving and communication system (PACS) policy;

2. Image Exchange Portal (Sectra) policy.

On 12 April 2023, you provided the following clarification:

The guidance and materials governing the use of such systems and relevant
training materials; the guidance and materials which are legally and
operationally relevant and connected to the use of these systems.

Under Section 1(1)(a) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I can
confirm that The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust holds
information that falls within the definition in your request which is set
out below:

The Trust has access controls to permit use of the PACS / IEP systems via
an application and approval process.   Application is available via the
Trust intranet and accounts are created for members of staff once approval
has been given.  User / training guides are held electronically within the
systems and are available once access has been permitted.

The Trust considers that the public interest in releasing documentation
relating to the software used or the access application process is
outweighed by the need to protect the security of our patients and staff
through effective IT systems and security. Releasing information about IT
systems access increases the risk that we will expose our computer systems
to vulnerabilities. This in turn may compromise the integrity and
confidentiality of personal information that has been provided in
confidence by our patients and is integral to their health and care. This
then risks endangering their physical or mental health (for example,
through the risk of unauthorised access to or malicious corruption of
information about their health and care) and/or their physical safety
(through unauthorised access to personal identifiable information). Such
information is therefore exempt from publication in accordance with
Section 38 (Health and Safety) of the Freedom of Information Act.

Please also find attached a briefing which explains your rights to request
a review by the Trust or to complain to the Information Commissioner’s
Office if you are not satisfied with the response from the Trust, and an
outline of the Trust’s policy on the Reuse of Public Sector Information.

If you have any queries regarding this email, please contact the Freedom
of Information Officer via [1][The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust request email] and quote the reference
number above in any future correspondence.

Kind regards.
