Climate emergency - what does it mean for Waltham Forest?

The request was partially successful.

Dear Waltham Forest Borough Council,

On 2nd May 2019 you declared a climate emergency. I'm writing to request that you now make public the specifics of what that means in terms of long strategic direction for future activities in the borough.

Please could you:

A) share your definition of climate emergency
B) list all the council's existing policies and planned activities which have an ecological footprint, or risk leading to net increase in greenhouse gas emissions, or any negative impact on biodiversity
C) please identify which of these activities are now under review due to the recognition of a climate emergency.
D) please outline new initiatives and policies you are considering in recognition of the climate emergency.
E) please include your plans for communicating the state of climate emergency (and implications) to residents in the borough
F) finally, please provide me with an update on any plans you have in place to implement citizens' or peoples' assemblies to engage residents of the borough in the solutions to the existential crisis we are facing.

Yours faithfully,

Will Farbrother
